Jesse Lott has been our Senior Pastor since December 2001. A Louisiana native, Pastor Lott holds degrees from Southeastern Louisiana University and the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Presently he is pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. He and his wife, Cyndi, have two daughters, Sarah and Rebekah. Pastor Lott’s assistant is Becky Parker.

Thank you for spending some of your time with us.  We know that your time is valuable and so we would like to give you as much information as you want about our church as simply and quickly as possible.

As you browse, we hope you sense our excitement about what God is doing here at Highland.  We are a church near the heart of Hickory, but we are also a church with a heart for Hickory.

Whether single or married, in kindergarten or college, teenager or senior adult, we have a place for you to grow.  Familiarize yourself with the people and ministries of Highland Baptist Church but more importantly, we pray you don’t leave here without knowing more about God’s love for you and the purpose He has for your life.                       

Our goal here at Highland is to help you discover God’s purpose and plan for your life.  We believe God made you for a reason.  You are not an accident.  You were created by God and for God.  He created you because He loves you.  God already knows everything about you.  He wants you to know Him in the same way!    

Then why are so many people separated from God?  Why do so many people feel distant from God?  The Bible says it’s because of sin.  That’s why we can’t have a relationship with God by trying to be good or by doing good works.  The sin problem never goes away.  But God solved our sin problem by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross and rise from the dead to pay the penalty for our sins and to purchase a place in heaven for us.  Through the Lord Jesus Christ, we can know God personally and have the assurance that He loves us.
