Atheist Preachers
Atheist Preachers. Sounds contradictory, doesn’t it? Well it is, but it is also a new reality in these days of apostasy.
Tufts University’s Center for Cognitive Studies recently announced it found several ministers in churches who no longer believe in God, but keep it secret for job security. The report presents case studies of five unbelieving ministers.
One was a a worship leader in a Southern Baptist church. “John” identifies himself as a worship leader who does not believe in God. He says his pursuit of Christianity “brought me to the point of not believing in God.”
He explains, “I didn’t plan to become an atheist. I didn’t even want to become an atheist. It’s just I had no choice. If I’m being honest with myself.” (“Preachers Who Are Not Believers, ” Center for Cognitive Studies, Tufts University, March 15, 2010)
Well, while he may be being honest with himself, why isn’t he honest with the church he serves?
How can a person take a salary from believe who believe one thing while he believes another?
It’s a sign of the times. And a vivid example of apostasy.

Seven large billboards reading – “Imagine No Religion” or “Praise Darwin: Evolve Beyond Belief” are going up in the Metro-Detroit area next month. They are part of a campaign by the Freedom from Religion Foundation to promote atheism they plan similar billboards in more than 30 cities in 10 states.
